Bio:

Dr. Aïda Valls is a Computer Engineer and a Doctor in Artificial Intelligence from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2002). She is researcher and lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering and Mathematics, at the Rovira i Virgili University since 1998. She is currently the director of the research group ITAKA (Intelligent Technologies for Advanced Knowledge Acquisition), which in 2014 was recognized as a “Consolidated” group by the Catalan agency AGAUR. Dr. Aïda Valls is a specialist in the development of decision support systems with heterogeneous variables. She has worked with fuzzy variables in expert systems based on linguistic rules and has also developed various models for aggregating linguistic information. She is also specialist in aggregation operators and data analysis techniques. Much of her scientific production has been applied to health-related problems. Although she also works in Tourism and Environmental Analysis. She is currently mainly involved on a project about the development of a screening system for diabetic retinopathy.
