Resum

A numerical algorithm to solve certain nonlinear nonlocal hyperbolic partial differential equations, even singular at the boundary, is developed and analyzed. A typical case is a model used to describe certain crystal precipitation phenomena. The relation with a special kind of initial profiles, represented by a train of delta functions and leading to a related system of ordinary differential equations, suggests a new method of solution, based on Shannon sampling, widely used in communication theory.
