If you have Linux skills and you want to freely participate in the Sun Certified Solaris Associate Exam design, Sun invites you to make the beta exam 310-105 from May 23 through June 10, 2008.
The URV has been a member of the Sun Academic Initiative (SAI) program since 2003. Our faculty and students have access to about 200 Free Web-based courses on Java technology, Solaris OS system administration, Java Enterprise infrastructure products and the complete StarOffice productivity suite. Professional Development Courses are also offered for other topics such as Time Management, Effective Presentation Skills and many others.

Remember that with the SAI agreement you can also get certified by Sun for just 52 euros!(When normally cost 129 euros for professionals). Ask here for more information about it.
To celebrate that soon will be 500.000 Professional Certificats in Sun technologies, the first one to pass this numbre on Spain and Portugal will win a beautiful Nintendo Wii.

If you want to learn to develop Sun SPOTS (Sun Small Programmable Object Technology) applications, now you have available the
Sun SPOT Introductory Training Course.
Students completing the online training, will receive a certificate of completion.
Do it and provide feedback. For example, is the course too difficult or easy? Was the homework useful, etc?
In order to promote URV communities and to spread out the Sun Know-How between profesors and students from our University,
Sun invites to profesors and URV Java / OpenSolaris members who want to the intern sessions about SW & HW that will take place at Sun offices.
If you are interested on assist, send me a message telling me to what session and in which office so that you can get the neccesary authorization.

Next Thursday, February 21 at 10:30 it will take place a techniccal conference about OpenSolaris and OpenSPARC at the E.T.S.E. conference hall, developed in the context of "Sun OpenSource Technologies Tour" and planned in collaboration with Sun Microsystems.
Although these sessions are addressed to professors, lecturers, phd students, research grant holders and last courses students, any member of our university community interested on the topics can assist.

NetBeans 6.0 Integrated Development Environment (IDE) extends support beyond Java by providing a rich set of features for C/C++, JavaScript and the Ruby language, including Ruby on Rails -- further enhancing developer productivity with multiple languages and ease of use.
Inside SUN SPOT project (an innovative platform that works with batteries for the development of wireless sensing networks, robots and personal electronics), Sun accepts Curriculum and Research proposals during the academic year 2007-2008 for free grant of Sun SPOTS Development Kits.
