Bio: Hatem A. Rashwan's educational foundation was laid at South Valley University in Aswan, Egypt, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2002. This initial step ignited his curiosity for the intricate world of electrical systems and technology, setting the stage for his future endeavours. Eager to delve deeper into computer science, he returned to South Valley University and completed his Master of Science in Computer Science in 2007. In 2010, he joined the Intelligent Robotics and Vision Group (RIVI) within the Department of Computer Engineering and Mathematics (DEIM) at URV. As a doctoral student, he dedicated himself to cutting-edge research fueled by a scholarship from FI-AGAUR-2010. His research prowess continued to evolve as he transitioned into a role as a research assistant for the RIVI group at URV from January 2014 to October 2014. During this period, he contributed to pioneering work in image processing, computer vision, pattern recognition, machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence. In November 2014, he was a postdoctoral researcher at REVA, IRIT-CNRS, INP-Toulouse, and the University of Toulouse for nearly three years. This international experience broadened his horizons, allowing him to collaborate with experts from diverse backgrounds and enriching his research insights. Returning to URV in 2018, Hatem made significant contributions to academia. He was appointed postdoctoral researcher under the Beatriu de Pinós program at DEIM, URV. His contributions have been beneficial in understanding AI's potential in healthcare systems. In May 2019, Hatem embraced a new role as a co-founder and scientific coordinator of UP2SMART INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS SL. This technology-based spin-off of URV was a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to translating academic knowledge into real-world solutions. Through UP2SMART, he aimed to bridge the gap between research and practical applications, creating cutting-edge technological solutions. Since September 2019 until now, Dr Rashwan has been a senior researcher and a visiting professor at DEIM, URV. Dr. Rashwan is the author of over 75 articles published in international conferences and high-ranked journals, a testament to his prolific research output. Furthermore, he has played a pivotal role in more than 12 national (Spanish and French) and European projects focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare. With an impressive h-index of 26 and an index-i10 of 46, Dr Rashwan's research has left an indelible mark on the scientific community. |
