Summary
In the last edition of Crypto, two papers on differential privacy were
presented:
- Crowd-Blending Privacy. Johannes Gehrke, Michael Hay, Edward Lui, Rafael Pass.
- Differential Privacy with Imperfect Randomnes. Yevgeniy Dodis,
Adriana Lopez-Alt, Ilya Mironov, Salil Vadhan.
The first one defines a new notion of privacy that relaxes the notion
of differential privacy and is more practical. Moreover, under some
additional conditions on the sampling of data, crowd-blending privacy
implies differential privacy. The second one studies the possibility
of obtaining differential privacy using imperfect randomness sources.
The purpose of this (informal) seminar is to give an overview of these results.
