Summary
In a preceding seminar (High-Level Synthesis, URV - DEEEA, 7th of March 2012)
the basic principles of High Level Synthesis (HLS) algorithms were explained. In
this second seminar on the same topics, an example of commercial HLS tool will
be presented. The main objective of this seminar is to show how an initial C/C++
description can be converted into the description of a digital circuit. For that,
several simple examples will be considered. They serve to analyze the structure of the circuits automatically generated by the HLS tool, and to understand how the designer can guide the synthesis process through the use of directives (or
pragmas). A final example, namely an exponentiation circuit over GF(2^163), will
be presented to demonstrate the ease of use and efficiency of HLS tools.
Main topics: High-Level Synthesis, examples of directives (unroll, pipeline,
inline, array partition , interface), final example (exponentiation over GF(2^163)).
