Summary
The focus of this research is to develop (semi-) automatic image processing systems (active vision systems, tele sensory systems). These systems serve as a role model: results from psychophysical and neuroscientific research motivate the development of algorithms. Machine vision is an important example of the intrusion of artificial cognitive performance in technical systems. The objective of our research is focused on making performance of biological visual systems available and to bring in different applications, for example in view-based,
autonomous robots. To make such systems real-time capability, a second focus deals with hybrid Hardware/Software Systems for the audio and image signal processing. In addition to the acceleration of time-critical algorithms and their implementation in special purpose hardware we are interested in particular minimizing the power dissipation in the circuit design of signal processing algorithms.
