Summary
Optimization is the act of obtaining the best result under given circumstances. The word ‘optimum’ is taken to mean ‘maximum’ or ‘minimum’ depending on the circumstances. In design, construction, and maintenance of any engineering system, engineers have to take many technological and managerial decisions at several stages.
Chaos is the science of surprises, of the nonlinear and the unpredictable. It teaches us to expect the unexpected. While most traditional science deals with supposedly predictable phenomena like gravity, electricity, or chemical reactions, Chaos Theory deals with nonlinear things that are effectively impossible to predict or control, like turbulence, weather, the stock market, our brain states, and so on.
There are many different variants of Evolutionary Algorithms. The common underlying idea behind all these techniques is the same: given a population of individuals the environmental pressure causes natural selection (survival of the fittest) and this causes a rise in the fitness of the population.
