Summary
Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) aim to improve road safety and traffic efficiency, and also enable infotainment. In VANETs, vehicles are expected to carry onboard devices, including powerful computers, a large array of sensors, radar devices, cameras, and wireless transceivers. In current VANET architectures, those vehicular resources are underutilized.
At the same time, emerging applications and services in VANETs require major changes to their underlying computing and networking models, which demand new network planning for VANETs. Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC) is one of the solutions, which consists of a group of vehicles instantly cooperating the resources of computing, sensing, communication for decision making on the road. The VCC paradigm is different from the traditional cloud infrastructure. It is clear that the VCC concept raises exceptional security challenges. This talk introduces the architecture and the security challenges in VCC.
