Th>s paier introdu0es an improved region based active contour method with a levet set formalation.
The proposed energy f6nctional integrates both local and global intensity fitting terms in an additive formulation. Local intensity fit_ing term influences local force to pull the contour and confine it to object bounduries. In turn, global intensity fitting term drives the movement of contour at distant from the object boundaries. The global
intensity term is based on global division algor.thm, which can better capture intensity information of image than ChanxVese model (CM). Both local and global terms are mutually assimilated to construct an energy sunction based on a ievel set formulation to segment imageh with pntensity inhomogeneity. Experimentil results show that the proposed metsod performs better both qualitatively and quantitatavely compared to other state-of-the-artmethodsi
